Thunder Defeat Falcons, then The Villages,and are Hot for Playoffs

After a victory over rival St. Stephens 2 weeks ago 35-24, the Thunder once again retain the Headmasters Cup, for the 3rd year in a row!!!It was a close fought game with the Thunder losing at halftime by 6. They came back and to win the game and then the cup,the Chris Hill MVP trophy went to running back AJ Strong. The Thunders record is now 7-1.

Last week the Thunder took on The Villages Charter School, it was the closest game this season and a great season finale. The Thunder down by 8 with a minute to go received the kickoff and returned it for the touchdown. They were forced to go for two and were successful. The game went to OT and running back AJ strong took it in for the victory, the final score was 48-42 final OT. The Thunder finished the season 8-1 and will now host a home playoff game to Admiral Farragut.

Out-of-Door-Academy Set for Falcons

The Thunder this week head to St. Stephens Epicoscal School for their final district match up. So far the Thunder are undefeated in their district and last week clinched the district 1b-6 after defeating their opponent Moor Haven 27-21. St. Stephens has had a disappointing season and are now out of the playoff picture. The only significance of this game for either team is The Headmasters Cup.

The Headmasters Cup has been retained by the Thunder since 2006 when the tradition started and they intend to keep it that way. The matchup is at St. Stephens @ 3:30pm on Friday in Bradenton, Florida.

Thunder Clinch District

It came down to the wire, but once again the Thunder pull out a victory over their opponent Moore Haven to clinch district 1-b 6. On a fourth down the Thunder stepped up and stopped the Terriers to win 27-21 on their own 20 yard line with 2 minutes left in the first quarter.

Next week the Thunder will play for the headmasters cup at St. Stephens Epicoscal School @ 3:30 pm. Even though this game has no meaning for either team since the playoffs have already been set, this rivalry always is a great game.

Thunder Storm Past Panthers and into 1st Place to Win Their District

Jamie Onufrak dragging a BCS defender on their way to a district championship The Thunder continue their hot streak as they fly past rival Bradenton Christian. The Thunder who won 17-7 were tied at halftime and their defense stepped up and didn’t allow any more points, yet it still came down to the wire. With only 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter kicker Jeff Young nailed a 30 yard field goal. Oh and did I mention it was their Homecoming Game!

Before the game the teams were tied with each other in the district standings at 2-0 each. After this monumental win, the Thunder have won district 6 in class 1-b. This is their first district championship in only their 4th year of existence.

Next week the Thunder will take on Moorhaven once again @ home 7:30pm Twin Lakes Park Sarasota, Florida.

Thunder Roll Over Shorecrest Prep.

After going up 21-0 at halftime, the thunder put it in cruise control and  win big 48-6. The Thunder had no trouble on friday against the chargers, with Chris Ragone the highlight of the night with six catches and 3 touchdowns. Quarterbacks Brian Ragone and Evan Wilson threw a combined 5 touchdowns and AJ Strong wrapped it up with a 30 yard touchdown run. The Thunder are now 4-1 and 2-0 in district 6.

This week the Thunder are to take on the Bradenton Christian Panthers who are 6-0 and 2-0 in district 6 with the thunder and this game will decide who will be the district champion or the runner-up.

Even after defeating the number 2 team in the state 2 weeks ago, the thunder are ranked 11th and the BCS Panthers 10th. The game will again be at home @ Twin Lakes Park, 7:30 Sarasota, Florida

Thunder to take on Shorecrest Prep

The Thunder hope to continue their role into the district 1-b playoffs. There match up this week is against Shorecrest prep. This is a non-district match up, which will be @ home; Twin Lakes Park, 7:30pm Sarasota, Florida

Thunder Defeat #2 team in the State of Florida

The Thunder had another crucial victory on their way to the class 1-b playoffs. With their win over #2 ranked Evangelical Christian School in the state of Florida, 39-28. With this victory the Thunder have sealed a playoff birth and with almost certainty won their district. With this victory the Thunder move to 3-1 and 2-0 in district 6.

Next week the Thunder play a non-district match against Shorecrest Prep. The game is @ Twin Lakes Park at 7:30 Sarasota, Florida.

Out of Door Academy Football 09-10

1252368328Football started at the Out of Door Academy in 2006. We re in class 1-b which is the smallest classification in the state of Florida. Last year the ODA football team made the playoffs for the 1st time in it’s short history.

This year the Thunder had their spring game cancelled due to heavy rain and lightning. That didn’t matter because the thunder won there first to games pretty easily. It’s only loss so far this season came against cardinal mooney, but the thunder rebounded again and won and are now 3-1 for the season.

This week the thunder play a critical district game against Evangelical Christian which should be a very good game. The game will be @ twin lakes park 7 pm
